your friends know about the deadly holiday season. (Make sure to get permission to hang the posters first.)
Activism Activities
Need some more ideas for how to spread the word during the holidays? Check out the following ideas:
- Decorate 15 lockers (in a row) in a high-traffic spot at school to celebrate the average of 15 teen lives a day that
can be saved by driving smart during the holidays. Use holiday decorations such as wrapping paper, big bows and candy canes
to draw attention. Include KeeptheDrive.com on the decorations to get people talking and encourage your classmates to check
out the site to learn about the movement.
- If your school has a daily or weekly newscast, ask the news crew to show some of the coolest Holiday Holla videos featured
on HolidayHolla.com. If you don’t have a school newscast, ask your teacher if your class can spend a little time on the
site and discuss the issue. Then ask everyone to pick the videos they like best and post them on their favorite profile
(like on MySpace or Facebook) and send them to friends and family. Come on, spread the good cheer!
- During the holiday season send out some IMs to your friends asking them to drive smart and include a link to KeeptheDrive.com.
Or send out a bulletin or set up a group on sites like MySpace or Facebook timed with Thanksgiving or New Year’s Eve (both
deadly days for teen drivers) to remind your friends that they can change the stats. Remember not to text the message to
your friends – they could be driving when they get your text. So, make sure to stick to the computer.
